Towards the end of December each year, I enjoy reflecting on the past 12 months. Looking back on all the wonderful and often unexpected adventures that I’ve enjoyed. Thinking about the challenges that I’ve faced. Feeling grateful that I’m still here, older and hopefully a little wiser.
2019 was the year in which I decided to dedicate more time and energy to developing my TOBY YOGA business. I set myself some goals, including; teaching yoga abroad, developing my meditation practice, learning new skills, and increasing the number of my classes.
My personal highlights of last year, in no particular order, include:
Running a weekly class for the hard-working clinical and administrative staff at Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust.
Being invited to teach at MUDRA, a new yoga and massage studio based in Sheffield City Centre.
Teaching at Katie Bell Phsyio and Wellbeing.
Increasing the number and range of my corporate clients, helping to bring more yoga into the workplace e.g. WebHelp, SAYiT and Woolley Wood School.
Teaching on a Dru Yoga urban retreat.
Working with more young people - becoming a lead-tutor on the annual Dru Yoga Youth Summer Retreat and teaching yoga on the SAYiT residency (for LGBTQ+ youth in South Yorkshire).
Establishing a home yoga studio and starting to work with clients on a 1-2-1 basis and tailored to their specific needs.
Qualifying as a Traditional Yoga Meditation Teacher.
Starting to teach Guided Meditation at St Luke’s Clifford House (alongside my regular weekly chair and mat yoga classes).
Being invited to help deliver a week-long series of Dru Yoga workshops in Bergen, Norway.
Going on a meditation retreat at the Gladstone Library in Hawden, North Wales.
Writing my first book – Rise & Shine – with my sister. (Coming soon!).
Starting my training as a medical and clinical Hypnotherapist.
And of course my weekly, Dru Yoga classes continue to grow and remain an ongoing pleasure to teach.
As we enter a new year and a new decade, I’m excited to see what new adventures lie in store. But whatever happens, I know that my Dru Yoga and meditation practice will continue to stand me in good stead to ride the waves and go with the flow.
See you on the mat.
