Laughter Yoga
We all want to feel healthier, happier and more harmonious. However, the growing pressure of modern life can get in the way leaving us feel tense, stressed out and overwhelmed.
This is where Laughter Yoga could help put a spring in your step and a smile back on your face.
What is Laughter Yoga?
Laughter Yoga is best described as a fun, interactive ‘wellbeing workout’. And although it is, as the name suggests, about laughing it’s not about jokes, humour or comedy.
It was developed by a medical doctor from India, Dr Madan Kataria and is now practiced in more than 110 countries around the world.
Who knew exercise could be so funny?
Why is it called Laughter Yoga?
It is called Laughter Yoga because it combines simple and enjoyable Laughter Exercises with yoga breathing techniques (known as ‘pranayama’).
Scientifically proven benefits
The practice of Laughter Yoga is based on the scientific fact that your body cannot differentiate between fake and real laughter. You get the same physiological and psychological benefits from laughter exercises as you do from ‘real’ laughter.
Research conducted at in India and the United States shows that laughter lowers the levels of stress hormones in our blood.
Benefits of Laughter Yoga
Laughter Yoga has enough benefits to make your chuckle with pleasure, these can include:
Changing your mood within minutes by releasing ‘happy’ chemicals called endorphins. (You may even become more cheerful and laugh more than you normally do).
Increasing your heart rate just like an aerobic exercise bringing more oxygen into the body and brain, making you feel energised and relaxed.
Reducing stress levels and boosting the immune system
Building new connections and making new friends
Developing a more positive outlook on life by finding the fun in life.
Business Benefits
