Specialist yoga for back pain

Do you suffer from back ache? Have you had to take time off because of a ‘bad back’? Is back pain stopping you from enjoying life?

The specialist Dru Yoga Back Care Course could be exactly what you need.

It is easy, enjoyable and suitable for pretty much everyone. It doesn’t matter how mobile, active or flexible you currently are. And what’s more, you don’t need to have ever been to a yoga class before. With this specialist programme, you will be able to enjoy moving your body again.

The approach of this six- or eight-week course has been developed following extensive research. It is also is perfectly in-line with current medical opinion; that our back needs to move, and the sooner we get moving and get back to our normal activities, the sooner we’ll feel better.

This means that yoga - especially gently, flowing therapeutic yoga like Dru - performed with awareness is an ideal treatment. And this is backed up by research which shows how effective yoga is as an approach for managing and reducing back pain.

The course is taught in a relaxed, friendly and supportive style - meaning it’s not just good for your back, it’s good fun for you too.

The specialist Dru Yoga Back Care Courses run on a course-by-course basis throughout the year. The classes take place live and online via Zoom

Based on evidence

The Dru Yoga Back Care Course is based on the work of senior Dru Yoga teacher and Senior Researcher at Bangor University, Dr Ned Hartfiel. To date, he has conducted three research studies on Dru Yoga in the workplace.

His latest research found that Dru Yoga reduced back pain, improved wellbeing and saved the NHS sickness absence days due to back pain. The clinical trial with 150 NHS staff showed impressive benefits for those taking part:
•    90% reported less back pain
•    97% recommended the programme
•    90% had more self-confidence even while experiencing stress
•    and, 80% improved in their energy levels.

Benefits for Individuals & Business

Ned has presented his research in the House of Lords to the Parliamentary Group on Yoga in Society. You can find a summary research article showing how yoga in the workplace can reduce back pain and sickness absence.

Many different kinds and sizes of businesses have experienced the benefits of the Dru Yoga Healthy Back Programme. It has been successfully introduced into Kellogg’s, North Wales Police, the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Merseyside Police, Great Ormond Street Hospital and Conwy County Council. And of the 100s of employees who have now completed the programme, approximately 9 out of every 10 have reported reduced back pain and improved wellbeing.

Just think how you, your back and your business could benefit!
